weekly photos

12/30/2007-01/05/2008

I realized yesterday that I hadn’t really taken photos for the week (aside from those of my boots!), so I picked up the camera and started chasing the cats around the house.

I also focused on an ornament I got from a friend. While I took down the tree on Saturday, I forgot to pack away this ornament. It’s pretty, I think I may find a way to display it year-round!

Here we have miss Posey doing some foot licking from one of her favorite seats in the house:

That’s about it this week. I really should have taken my camera for a walk around the block. A nearby creek is partially frozen and I could have gotten something there. Oh well. I’m sure I’ll have more opportunities!

2007 was a partially successfully year

If we look back to my resolutions for 2007, I didn’t do too badly.

  1. Redesign and reorganize this blog.
Redesigning has now been done twice this year. I still have work to do — add back my blogroll, perhaps create a “100 things” list? But, I’m not considering it enough of a priority to keep on the list for 2008.
  2. Redesign and reorganize my home.
NaBloCleanMo got a lot of cleaning/organizing done, but I’m not finished yet. There’s still tons of design work to be done! Still, I’m much farther along thanks to my November project than I thought possible!
  3. Finish never-ending kitchen cabinet project.
Yeah, that didn’t happen. The three doors I mentioned in last year’s list are painted and back indoors, but there are still three blue ones that remain untouched. Oh well.
  4. Run a marathon
    Check!

Here’s what I’d like to accomplish for 2008:

  1. Finish the kitchen cabinet project.
  2. Design my home.
I need to add paint to the still-white walls, add art and get rid of temporary furniture.
  3. Run a triathlon.
Just a little one. And, no, I’ve never competitively swam or biked before!
  4. Stay on top of my time and billing at work.
We keep track of hours spent on client projects, and are supposed to keep up-to-date. But whenever I’m really busy, it slides. Today I spent the entire day catching up and am still not done — I hadn’t put in my time since September 12! Whenever I fall behind, I always curse myself and vow never to let it lapse again. We’ll see if putting it out here has any impact!

I think that’s enough to keep me busy!

P.S. I’m a little late getting this year’s list up, and there’s a bit of a backlog posts in my head. Unfortunately, my body decided it’d rather spend the first two days of the new year sick in bed!

I had a bit of fun last week … especially with my husband’s cousins’ 50s-style house and fitting decorations. I was limited to my point-and-shoot this week since it was a lot easier to fit into my carry-on!

Here are my favorites:

And of course, Christmas dinner!

Christmas Dinner

the chef was flattered …

… that I wanted to photograph my dinner.

She didn’t know I intended to blog it or, probably, what a blog is so I didn’t bother explaining. I hope I didn’t come off too crazy!

I still regret not snapping a shot of the pile of crabs we got over the summer, so I couldn’t let this pass me by. Perfect lobster tail, homemade twice-baked potato …

Christmas Dinner

Mmmm!

Had my stepmother-in-law not had a terrible cold, she would have also made a crab bisque. While it, too, would have been fantastic, I surely would have exploded!

Not pictured: chocolate-raspberry ganache cake for dessert, that I could not pass up. Also fabulous, but storebought (due to her terrible cold). She was very apologetic, needlessly.

Since my husband and I don’t eat meat, the Christmases we spend with my father-in-law and his wife are always seafood feasts. Clearly, they don’t mind!

We’ve had lobster tails a few times, sushi platters (though, that was just an appetizer!), and once, steamed king crab legs.

We always look forward to it. We always eat too much!
