christmas, here we come!
We’re heading up to Western New York for a couple days to spend Christmas with my in-laws.
Before I go, here are some photos from this past week. I was busy again, so I didn’t have too much to choose from!
I’ll probably post while I’m away, but if not, have a great Christmas!
visions of blog posts are dancing in my head
It’s been crazy. It always is this time of year!
I’ve been singing almost every day. Now it’s finally calmed down, but last week, I kept writing up blog posts in my head.
Of course now they’ve either been forgotten or it’s been so long that they’re no longer relevant.
For instance, on Saturday morning, I was going to tell you about what I’d eaten that morning. I know, boring, you don’t care. But as I was crunching down on something inappropriate for 10 a.m., I mentally created a list.
Well now that I’ve gotten this far, I’m going to write about it anyway!
The following foods were consumed on Saturday morning between the hours of 7 and 10 am:
- One peanut butter sandwich
- Two mini chocolate donuts
- One chocolate chip cookie
- A cup of vegetable soup
- A snack-size bag of Doritos
Weird, huh?
Aside from the sandwich, everything else was provided after this race. It was freezing, and I had been up for hours anyway, so vegetable soup seemed appropriate. After eating soup, it just seemed natural to open up a bag of chips!
Tonight, I meant to come in here and whip off a quick post and then put some ornaments on my still-bare tree.
I got distracted!
holiday concert!
Last week I followed a link over to Citizen of the Month where I learned about the Second Annual Blogger Christmahanukwanzaakah Online Holiday Concert. I was (and still am) in the middle of my choir’s busiest time of the year. Our holiday ‘pops’ concert was last weekend, the Messiah is coming up, and we have had rehearsals or performances just about every night.
But I knew I had to participate. I’m no expert at this stuff; I’ve only recorded a song once before, and that was years ago.
I downloaded a trial audio mixing program, and got to work each night after I got home. It isn’t perfect, but I was able to come up with something that I wasn’t embarrassed to share!
Follow the link above or click on the image (courtesy of Vanessa at The Butterfly Blog) to check out the concert!
I see some “acts” have been added since I was there earlier today, so I’ll have to revisit it myself!
some assembly required
I’ve been out-and-about singing holiday concerts with the community choir quite a bit lately, and we’ve still got another week left.
Today was really one of my only “free” days to put up the Christmas tree.
After running a 15K (9.3 miles) race this morning, taking a two-hour nap, finalizing my “performance” for tomorrow’s Blogger Christmahanukwanzaakah Online Holiday Concert and making chili, I was ready to begin the task.
I’m going to buy a new tree after they go on sale. This is why:
Aside from the annoyance of having to insert and reform each branch to make it look like it hasn’t been shoved back in the box all year, it’s not a terrible tree. I just want one that’s more user-friendly.
I assume those brown things are supposed to be pine cones, and not dead branches.
After wrestling with five strands of lights (you need a lot of lights to make a fake tree look decent!), I had enough for the night. Ornaments to come later!
