I’ve had a busy week, and was going to skip this week’s Photo Hunt “What IS that?” theme. However, I couldn’t resist pulling out my camera when stopped at a red light today. I looked up in the sky and saw this:

The first thing I thought of when I saw that today’s Photo Hunt theme were the pointed spikes on my “baby” cactus.
Yes, if you look closely, you can see dust on the spikes. How do you dust a cactus?
Even though this little guy is only a couple inches tall, it is hardly a baby. We bought a cactus seed kit on a family vacation to Arizona or New Mexico. When I was 10.
This tiny thing is 23 years old!
It has started growing better ever since I moved it from a small terracotta pot to a glazed ceramic one, but it’s still very small.

This was the view from our rented beach house in the Outer Banks, North Carolina a couple years ago. We go back next month. I can’t wait!
