weekly winners: party boat edition

September 21-27, 2008

Over the weekend, we traveled to Lake George, NY to attend my cousin’s wedding. The entire wedding was on a party boat — we were docked for the ceremony and cocktail hour, with a three-hour cruise during the reception.

The family doesn’t get together too often as we don’t live close, so it was great seeing everybody again. Most of my photos were of family (which I won’t be posting here), but I will share some scenes from the boat.

The forecast for the day was terrible — high chance of rain all day. But the rain held off and they were able to have the ceremony outside on the deck of the boat.

This was taken from inside during dinner, and I couldn’t avoid the glare on the glass.
I still like the shot!

Earlier in the week, I took another shot through the car window. It was about the same time of night as last week’s photo — pretty soon it will be dark on my drive home!

greeblepix: september ’08

I can’t believe it’s already Greeblepix time again!

This afternoon, I was going through my Flickr photos, trying to decide which to enter. I hadn’t planned on taking a new shot.

But when I came home tonight, the sky looked really cool. I grabbed my camera and here’s what I got:

Moonlight

I know it’s not perfect, and I suppose I would have gotten a better result if I actually knew how to use the settings on my camera. (I’ll get on that one of these days …) But I still like it, anyway!

There are lots of talented photographers participating. Come on over and join us!

weekly winners: creepy edition

September 7-13, 2008

Currently this is hanging on the sliding glass door in our kitchen:

spider warning

‘Tis the season for these guys in the garden:

spider

They sometimes decide to make their webs across our door frames. This guy took residence across the back door for a few days, thus the warning sign:

Since he feeds our “stray” Meadow every morning, my husband unfortunately walked through a web one morning this week. At least the spider was gone!

Now for some non-creepy photos:

Buddies
(Taken from my cell phone. They were both on my lap.
I had to use the flash so they blinked, but it’s still a cute photo!)

on the way home from work last night …

Hubby: So did you buy a lot of CDs today?

Me: Uh, no. Why?

Hubby: (Laughing) Because I bought shoes!

He was wondering if maybe we’d traded habits for the day. (He’s not normally shopping for shoes online … but I passed along a great deal from Mir.)

It was funny that minutes that after the above conversation, we returned home to find a pair of shoes for me waiting on the doorstep!

Though, I’m not sure about these. I actually only went looking for shoes because I was making an online Old Navy purchase, and they had a promo to get free shipping if you added something from Piperlime. I figured I’d see what was on sale!

I added these to my shopping cart. On sale for $19.97, marked down from $70. Since they got rid of the $7 Old Navy shipping charge, I figure they were really only $12.97.

(Let’s not discuss the failure of the majority of items in that Old Navy order.)

So … the shoes came. I love the color. I love the texture — they’re “patent canvas.” I’m just not sure about the peep-toe. I normally love a peep-toe, but usually the placement/shape is different.

What do you think?
