art appreciation

I got a pretty big project done today (yay!), which gave me some breathing room to browse the web a little bit.

And I stumbled upon this story about an art teacher who had been suspended due to his hobby as a “butt-printing artist.”

Yep, that’s right. This guy paints with his ass (and, um, other parts). And people buy his paintings for hundreds of dollars. (eww!)

Here’s a link to The Washington Post‘s version of the article, Teacher in Crack Over Butt Art.

And for those of you that wish to see some examples of butt-print art, hop on over to http://buttprintart.com!

I’ve noticed his site is very slow today. Actually, right now, the images aren’t appearing (I did seem them earlier). Apparently his AOL site can’t handle the traffic generated by his making national news!

where does the time go?

The problem with having time-consuming hobbies is that things don’t get done. Like Christmas shopping. And writing out Christmas cards.

I should know better, I’ve been singing through the holiday season for several years now. Why couldn’t I organize myself last month?

Time is slipping away at work too. Today I submitted my vacation request for the rest of the year, so I don’t lose my vacation days. I put in for six days, and I still have at least a day or two (which, my boss is cool enough to let me make up next year off the books).

That leaves only six work days until Christmas. I have thirteen projects left on my calendar for the year. Some of them can be quick, but others will take days.

So, sorry for the boring post, but I just don’t have any time to look around for inspiration!

sometimes, i want to be a cat

Cats have it made. They sleep, eat, play, sleep, get head pets, sleep, repeat.

Some days, I’m fortunate enough to practice being a cat. Like yesterday.

OK, first I ran a 15K race (9.3 miles), which is not very cat-like.

Once I got home, however, I showered, and collapsed on the bed. After finishing a book I needed to return to the library today, I napped for about three hours.

Ahh … to be a cat. Today I’m back at work, and it’s been a rather tedious day.

I miss being a cat!

holiday cheer

Last night was the Chorale’s holiday concert. Something about getting up on stage and performing Christmas carols really gets me in the holiday spirit. Even though we’ve been rehearsing these songs for weeks, it’s not until the performance that it really feels like Christmas.

Today I was finally inspired to put up my tree. It’s fake, mainly because I don’t trust the little furballs not to climb it. We’re always out of town for Christmas, anyway, with alternating parents, one less fire hazard to worry about.

They pretty much leave the tree alone, aside from batting at the occasional ornament. We put all the indestructable ones on the bottom. Though, they seem to enjoy coughing up hairballs on the tree skirt! Every year …
