weekly winners

June 29-July 5, 2008

I didn’t take too many photos this week.

I really like my cactus shot from yesterday’s Photo Hunt.

One night last week, I was watching TV and noticed Joey was acting cute on the top of the couch. It was a bit too dark, but it didn’t stop us from having a photo shoot!

And then there was the night I was headed upstairs with my camera, preparing to download some photos, and I found Jeter napping on the stairs.

Silly little Jeter. But I don’t think you want to join me at the gym to go swimming!

photo hunt: pointed

The first thing I thought of when I saw that today’s Photo Hunt theme were the pointed spikes on my “baby” cactus.

Yes, if you look closely, you can see dust on the spikes. How do you dust a cactus?

Even though this little guy is only a couple inches tall, it is hardly a baby. We bought a cactus seed kit on a family vacation to Arizona or New Mexico. When I was 10.

This tiny thing is 23 years old!

It has started growing better ever since I moved it from a small terracotta pot to a glazed ceramic one, but it’s still very small.

running shirts

This is for Take It and Run Thursday: Running T-Shirts.

There are a lot of great shirts there. Every time I see their booth at a race expo, One More Mile has added to their line. (Ha ha, “Toenails are for Sissies!”) At every big race, somebody’s shirt/attire catches my eye.

My friends like to have shirts printed up for when there are a number of people traveling for a race. I have two of these “homemade” creations.

The first was for my marathon last year. Obviously, we ran the Flying Pig Marathon.

Now … this next one, for the Philadelphia Distance Festival 1/2 marathon, was NOT my idea. But, they made one for me. My name was ironed onto the front.

And actually, it was pretty fun wearing it. We were making people laugh!
