home again

It was a long drive, and I’m tired so I’ll probably write more later.

I just wanted to pop in and add some detail now. It wasn’t easy to text message while running/walking!

(Oh, and there were two ‘finished’ posts because I got an alert that the first one didn’t go through, when obviously it did!)

Miraculously, both knees held out. No knee pain while running, and no knee pain today!

The only noticeable pain during the race was my feet, which is usually happens. I think maybe during training, the knee pain draws the focus away from my feet?

It’s possible that my shoes don’t have enough cushion for a race this long, but, I’ve tried just about every shoe out there and nothing else gives me enough support!

Well, I think I’ll be sticking to shorter runs for now, anyway.

Of course, by shorter I mean half-marathons (13.1 miles). And I’m sure I’ll do the metric marathon (16.3 miles) in the fall … but that’s still quite a bit shorter and easier to train for!

We did all of our training using the Galloway run/walk method, keeping a slow and steady pace. We just wanted to finish, we weren’t trying to be fast — and were hoping for a 5:30 finish.

We finished at 5:25!

I had enough in me to sprint at the finish, and I probably could have finished a little faster, but I’m still happy. I feel good, and I stuck with my running buddies.

To celebrate, tomorrow night we’re replacing our usual evening run with a pedicure!

  1. Thanks 🙂

Yes, I will post photos! I just don’t have any yet.

I didn’t get any with my camera, but the race photo crew’s should be online soon. I’ll just borrow a couple …
