It’s time to clean up those sweaters!
Remember my closet?
Until now, only the shoe situation had been fixed. The hanging storage needs at least a full day’s attention, so today I decided to clean up the shelves.
Like my dressers, I tend to shove things on these shelves that don’t have a better place to be. That’s how we got here:
The bottom shelf above the boots is just fleece tops and sweatshirts, but sometimes the cats pull things out! Sure, it’s funny and we laugh when we come home to sweatshirts dragged into the living room … but it’s probably better if my clothes stay where they belong!
I decided to remedy the situation by picking up a few storage boxes and placing them on that bottom shelf. One box for purses (I don’t have that many, but I can never find them. There were four under those sweaters!), another for hats, gloves and random items that were in there.
There were some things that just didn’t belong there (like pants), and a few sweaters that I added to the Goodwill pile. Everything else was neatly placed back inside:
Ah. Much better, and there’s room for more sweaters! Though, I’m sure it won’t stay color-coded for long!
For day eight (that’s all?), I’m thankful that I have a good job at a great company. Even though I’ve had some frustrating issues this week, ultimately I’m happy to be there!

Nice work! Did you find anything that you forgot you had?
Thanks!
I did find some sweaters I had forgotten about, and there were some lost pants in there, too …
What a great idea, and the tranformation photos are amazing. Your house is going to be immaculate on 1 Dec. The other day I was cleaning up my bedroom and I found a cheque for $325!!! Good luck to you.
If you’re anything like me, by the end of the month the order will have disintegrated and you’ll be able to start all over again. I think my tidiness lasts about a month!! I’m loving your NaBloPoMo stuff. 🙂
Hey… I’m wondering how all of your previous cleaning projects have held up? Are they still tidy? You are a trooper, for sure! Cleaning up a closet is the worst.
Cecily, thank you for making me clean my house. This was, after all, your idea!
So far it’s everything is holding up pretty well, but I haven’t had too much time to make a mess yet!
