Last night was a wonderful night. Not too warm, and not humid at all. A big improvement from last week!
We had our the usual company on the track — walkers, kids on bikes, toddlers running around, etc — but it didn’t seem too bad.
I started out kind of quick, and figured I’d slow down closer to my 2:02 goal as usual. But after I kept hitting my 400s at a quicker pace, I figured I’d see how long I could keep it up!

As I went around and around, it started getting more crowded. I’m pretty sure my first 2:00 lap happened when I had to weave around a couple taking up three lanes walking their dog, and a kid walking backwards. It just went downhill from there …

It was pretty hard to keep a good pace going under these conditions, though. I did what I could!
Seriously … those people were blocking two lanes at the 200m mark for probably half of my laps. I’m sure it contributed to my slow down!
Oh, and kids were throwing bang-snaps on the ground and at each other. And at one point, a little girl parked her pink bike in lane three. Yeah, that was great.
Well, at least I finished without getting run over by a bike or colliding with a small child. It was close, though!
Next week we’re going back down to eight since our goal 10K race is coming up next weekend. I happen to have a 10-miler the day before … I guess we’ll see if I can still reach my goal!

Wow that’s one busy track! I can’t believe people are just sat around on it!! You still got awesome times 🙂
That track has a ton of traffic! Have you tried running early in the morning? That might be easier.
It was with a group, and our scheduled time was in the evening. We’re done for the season now, but if I go back on my own it will definitely be early!
