I’ve had a busy week, and was going to skip this week’s Photo Hunt “What IS that?” theme. However, I couldn’t resist pulling out my camera when stopped at a red light today. I looked up in the sky and saw this:
I don’t have any ideas. Anybody?

i don’t have the slightest idea.
How high are they and are they over the roadway? Perhaps they are some type of clearance warning for high loads?
Baker
omgosh….i have no idea but it looks really weird! 😉
Baker — they were quite high — there were other regular-height power lines running below them!
Though, just a thought … it was taken close to Washington, DC — maybe it’s the start of the no-fly zone?
Actually my first thoughts were of some type of low-flying aircraft warning but I was thrown off by the fact they were hanging. If there is an airport in the area that may be what they are.
I frequently see high wires in the vicinity of an airport (even a small landing strip) that have what I presume is a large plastic ball attached as a visual warning to low-flying aircraft. They are probably required for structures/lines of a certain height particularly if they are in the landing approach.

No idea. What IS that?
Are you going to tell us???
I would if I knew the answer. I have no idea!
