I’m not really comfortable getting dressed in front of people.
At the gym pool where I’ve been taking lessons, the showers have a dressing area. No problems there.
The county pool, however, does not have this luxury. After showering, I’ve been wrapping myself in a towel to return to the lockers, and getting dressed while trying to keep the towel in place.
I’m not so uncomfortable that if I dropped the towel I’d be horrified or anything, but I just prefer to keep my nakedness to myself.
Some people don’t seem to share my concerns.
After my shower tonight, I rounded the corner to find a women in her underwear and bra drying off. I didn’t find this odd; I’m fine once I have at least that layer in place. We chatted for a minute and she went over to the dryers.
I was rustling through my gym bag when another woman asked how my swim was as she returned from the shower. I looked up to see her bare ass pass me.
She continued talking to me as she was drying off and getting dressed. I usually make eye contact when having a conversation, but it’s just not something you want to do while somebody is not fully concealed!
She wasn’t the only one. Another woman actually bent over, bare-bottomed, to go through her gym bag on the floor. I kind of did a double-take on that one. Why would this woman squat down, sticking her naked butt into the air?
Now, both of these women are middle-aged. Well, I’m assuming the second one was as well. I didn’t see her face.
Maybe I’ll care less when I’m older?
Though I wouldn’t bend over, I’m considerably less concerned about it after having three kids. Nothing says ‘stripped modesty’ like childbirth.
ha…you should see the men’s locker room 🙂
I think it’s awesome when women are comfortable with their bodies, but I don’t think I’d be quite as comfortable having a casual conversation with someone in that particular state! 🙂
