We’ve got quite a few design obstacles. I’ve been trying to figure out what to do.
Right now, I’ve got an 80-inch couch that fits perfectly on my 80-inch wall. We’ve got an Ikea chair and footstool between the couch and the wet bar, partially blocking the entrance to our bedroom.
A couple of storage cubes act as my coffee table. I’ve got a credenza on the 90-inch wall at the bottom of the stairs.
The TV is in a too-large entertainment center on the wall against the stairway.
This entertainment center is leftover from our first apartment, and was partially destroyed to house our giant 32-inch flat-panel tube TV. It was supposed to be temporary when we got the TV, but it’s now been years.
Over the summer I tried to find a cabinet that would fit it, but the TV is too deep. Most cabinets out there are 19 or 21 inches deep; the TV is 24.
Lately, I’ve been wondering if I should give up on that idea and hang a flat screen TV over the fireplace.
But I don’t know if I’ll like that layout, assuming I keep the couch in the same place. That means the people on the couch have to turn to watch TV … unless I can maybe find a small sectional.
But will that take up too much space? Should we knock out the wet bar and put some seating in there? We never use it; it really isn’t necessary. The kitchen is only steps away!
I’d really like to make my living room look like grown-ups live here, and add some additional seating. I just don’t know what to do!
Anybody have any ideas?

I’d say knocking out the wet bar is a great idea! Those were so popular in the 70’s and 80’s but nobody uses them!
