Remember this disaster?
I’ve started attempting to tame the monster. Today’s project was to organize the shoes.
There are now 20 pairs of summer shoes and sandals in an under-the-bed box. I’ve got nearly as many pairs slated to be given away or trashed.
The remaining shoes are now neatly arranged in my closet.
Dress shoes and flats are in the rack behind the door:
Boots, sneakers (casual and athletic) and canvas skimmers are in the closet:
Not shown: on the other side of the closet, I’m hanging onto a few pairs of Doc Martens from my early post-college days … I do still wear them as snowboots!
I still have a few more items that I need to find homes for, but that will come with the rest of the closet organization, hopefully!
Today, I am thankful for shoes!
If you love shoes, too, check out the NoBloShoeMo Flickr pool!

Nice job – did you find any shoes that you forgot that you had? That’s happened to me before.
Wow, great job organizing! Can you come over and help me, please ? 🙂
I think we should be shoe best friends. I love the red heels.
I heart your shoe collection.
And, er, I am embarrassed to admit that I never thought of storing out of season shoes, rather than cluttering my shoe rack with them. That is a really good idea.
Ahhh… a gal after my own heart… look at all those shoes! I’m drooling. Do you have the same problem with socks? I LOVE SOCKS.
Bethany: This time around, I don’t think I had any surprises, but I have found shoes that I had forgotten about in previous clean-ups!
boogiemum: You do realize I’m cleaning up a new spot every day in November? My organizational skills can’t be that good if I have at least 30 messes to deal with!
meloukhia: I wouldn’t have, either. I got the idea from the NoBloShoeMo folks in their shoe-storing discussion! If I keep buying shoes, the rarely-worn dress shoes are going to have to be stored, too!
anitra: Socks aren’t a problem. Just shoes!
I may “accidentally” buy some more shoes today since Rack Room is the same shopping center as Bed Bath & Beyond and Ann Taylor LOFT, where I need to go today …
I”m jealous of your shoes and I love the new design.
I am a shoe junkie…I’m am trying to do the “one in, one out” plan…it’s not working;)
Unless I’m replacing something specific, I don’t even try the one in / one out method!
Though now that I’ve got them all organized, it’s going to be tough.
Wow! That’s fantastic! Amazing! You’re incredible!
Good words.
