autopilot

During the week, I carpool with my husband. He works in DC, and the Metro isn’t far from my office so I drop him off.

This morning, he didn’t go into the office. I was driving along, singing to the music … but not really paying attention to where I was. I realized what I was doing at the last minute, with just enough time to switch lanes and exit the highway.

On the way home, unfortunately, I didn’t remember not to go to the Metro until after I had already gotten on the exit ramp. And know I was thinking about how I didn’t have to get him when I walked out a few minutes later than usual.

Doh!

I’m a creature of habit …

  1. Ah, the mindless autopilot. I’ve experienced many an embarrassing moment when I do an about face because I completely forgot what I was really supposed to be doing! 🙂
