Because a cul-de-sac is really not a good street to turn down when trying to evade the police.
Our neighbor let us know that on Friday evening, a high-speed chase ended in our driveway. Multiple police cars were chasing a suspect SUV. (Fortunately we weren’t home yet; if we had been, my car could have been smashed!)
The driver ran off into my neighbor’s back yard, and police grabbed the passenger out of the car and pointed a gun at him. They also captured the driver that ran off on foot. (There would have been no place to go; my neighbor’s yard backs to a creek.)
I looked it up in the police beat today, it was a drug arrest. The car was initially pulled over because the taillights were out, but the driver sped away when the officer approached. After apprehension, the passenger had three grams of crack cocaine.
Hmm, drug arrests, raccoon house invaders…
Really, we live in a nice neighborhood!
I lived in a neighborhood where the cops chased someone down too. Cul-de-sac too! I didn’t realize it until they had the guy in handcuffs. Not in my comfort zone! It was good that you were not home.
