why does this have a lock?

It’s in the bathroom at my office.

We moved to a new office around the holidays, and it’s sorta been bothering me ever since I noticed the key hole.

It makes sense that the toilet paper holder also has a lock, to prevent folks from stealing it.

But a) there is nothing in there that anyone would want to steal, and b) the opening is wide enough, anyway, to remove whatever can be placed inside.

Why?

  1. because someone lost their diamond ring in there one time, and someone else went riffling through and stole it and just in case anyone else loses a diamond ring in there they don’t want anyone else finding it first?

Because rubbish is dirty, dirty stuff and who knows, you may have a rubbish scavenger on your floor – this will keep them out and prevent them spreading rubbish germs everywhere?

So no one can open the door and leave rubbish strewn across the bathroom floor… just in case they want to do that?

    Um… I don’t know.

  2. It’s the valuables in the rubbish; it has to be. The possibilities are endless. Garbage at it’s best, “priceless.”
